Elizabete Vizgunova-Vikmane is a researcher at the Center for Geopolitical Studies Riga. She is also an acting researcher at Rīga Stradiņš University and a researcher at the Institute of History of the University of Latvia, as well as the Latvian Institute of International Affairs.

Elizabete holds a master’s degree in European Studies from the College of Europe (2016) and Sciences Po-Paris School of International Affairs (2014). Currently, she is pursuing a Ph.D. degree at Rīga Stradiņš University, focusing on the gendered political discourse in the context of the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence (Istanbul Convention) in Latvia.

Her research interests focus on international relations in the post-post-Soviet space, as well as gender, sexuality, and intersecting inequalities.

Elizabete has extensive experience in international relations analysis. She has previously worked at the PPMI (Vilnius, Lithuania) and the EUISS (Paris, France).
